Friend/Guild Alert
I believe there should be an option where you can recieve either noise or text alerts if someone on your friend's or Guild list logs in or out. To prevent the annoyance of large Guilds and heavy friend lists, prehaps you should have the option to make it just text, just noise, or turn it off completely if you don't wish it.
If possible, an option to just alert Guild mates or just alert your Friend's List, whichever you would rather have alerted
Thoughts?

Indeed, haha
Though I'd say 10 minuites even is afk, 10 minuites of no chat, movement, or action of any kind

I suppose so, however the "call" function where you hold down Ctrl and and click on what you want to call out is a very good step towards that
I haven't seen another MMO do that and I believe it's a very good idea, quick communcation using verbs and nouns
I'm attacking this, I'm using that, I'm following you (without having to take the time to type it yourself)
I have to give them respect for that, even the function allowing you to draw on the map and send beacons! I personally don't believe Guild Wars needs a major change in communcation tools, it just seems that way maybe because no one ever listens to each other, haha

Why not have a tracking program of what the person is doing?
Have a check friend under whisper?
Herk Durk is in Underworld for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Toucher Pwnzor is in Random Arena's with currently 3 wins.
Anet Update Rulez is in Kamadam, Jewel of Istan for 5 hours.
Lol Buttface Lol is in New Ascalon for 2 minutes.
That way, you know if the person is busy or not, Herk Durk might be finished soon but is probably tired, Anet Update Rulez is AFK, Toucher Pwnzor will also be done soon if he doesn't want to continue RA, Lol Buttface Lol I should take off my friends list.
Hey guys, I might have 2 people that can come. One of them is grinding Underworld and might come. The other one sucks but at least he can run the build well.
This games communication is great compared to others, but lets do what Xbox 360 did.

Yeah, I figured since the function sorta exists in the game already it should remain with it

Would make my stalking easier to do.
In seriousness, this isn't a needed idea. It isn't that hard to figure out who is on and what they are doing if they are people you know. If you have so many people in your guild+friends list then you would soon become annoyed with all the notices you get. If this was something needed I'd consider it, but it certainly isn't something Anet needs to put time+money into.

Well that's why the option to turn it off or manage it should be present, and I suppose it's not really "needed" but nither is those dancing emotes (however amusing they are).
Regardless, just a thought I suppose, wanted to see how many people liked or disliked the concept

Just throwing this in here, but I don't know if it'd be worth the "small" amount of work. As with guild tags of Alliance members, you could display the names of people in ones friends list in a different color, if any are in the same outpost/town you are.

Second this completely. It would be nice for alerts though, but to be able to assign different ones to whoever you want. I have some names on my friends list I don't remember, and even more in my guild that I don't know. When I make a trade here in guru though, I add the person to friends and wait for them to come on, in a situation like that it'd be nice to be notified

/notsigned for GW1- believe whatever figures you want, the GW community has gotten smaller and less sociable. I don't see this making a big impact on anyone but the larger guilds.
I wouldn't mind the idea for GW2 though, maybe something like what Steam does.
